Services
Dr. Braje offer individual, couple, and family therapy telehealth services. Initial sessions are spent setting goals and exploring what you'd like to accomplish during therapy.
Children
Dr. Braje applies play-based CBT, trauma-focused CBT, or/and parent-child interaction therapy when working with young children. Her work with children also includes working with parents in order to provide continuity between the therapy and home environments. Working with parents typically include parent coaching sessions where she discusses parenting strategies for changing problematic behaviors and increasing positive interactions.
Teens and young adults
Pre-teens and young adults benefit from working with a trusted adult who is separate from their parents. At this stage in development, they strive to individuate from their parents. For this reason, they want the therapy to be a confidential space for them to work on their own individual problems. More time in therapy is often devoted to the processing of emotions and problems as they attempt to navigate their role in world. Initially, therapy is less solution-focused and more about helping them develop insight into their difficulties. It is not uncommon for parents and teenagers to have different therapeutic goals.
Adults
Adulthood is often fraught with stress related to work, family, and relationships. CBT offers tools for modifying behaviors and cognitions which may be contributing to chronic and acute psychological distress. Therapy with adults is often focused on recognizing and changing patterns of thoughts and actions which often maintain psychological distress.
Couples and Family
Dr. Braje's role in therapy is to facilitate communication between dyads or among family members to help change relational dynamics which may be causing emotional stress.
